The SWING DTM (Door Top Monitor) ligature-alarmed door system by Kingsway Group is designed to minimize the risk of patient suicide and self-harm in behavioral and mental health environments.
Supplied as a complete doorset, it features a hardwired ligature monitor that triggers the staff alarm when a ligature is detected at the door’s top edge. The integrated ligature monitor itself benefits from a low profile design, eliminating overlap and reducing the risk of jamming, and functions no matter what position the door is in; open or closed.

Anti-Barricade by design:
The SWING DTM also benefits from anti-barricade design to further improve patient safety, ensuring staff are prepared if a patient attempts to barricade the door shut. Thanks to its unique ‘SwingThru’ Strike Plate and double-action continuous ‘SwingHinge’, staff can open the door outwards in seconds with no override toolkits required, saving crucial time during life-threatening incidents.

Door Top Ligature Monitor Alarm for Behavioral Health
Kingsway Group’s NYS OMH Guide approved Door Top Monitor detects ligatures at the door’s top edge to alert staff in the event of a ligature attempt. The integrated ligature monitor triggers an alarm when pressure is applied to the door’s top edge and works whether the door is open or closed.
An adjustable delay of up to seven seconds can be set to prevent tamper or false alarms when required, making sure clinical teams are correctly alerted to ligature incidents and reducing false or nuisance alarms.
The Kingsway Door Top Monitor alarm is fully integrated with the door itself, meaning the unit has no visible wiring and offers a streamlined, discreet appearance. The wiring travels within the door core and exits through the electrically modified hinge, providing a reliable power source to the life-critical system.

The DTM Alarmed Door System benefits from the anti-barricade capabilities of our SWING Door System, providing staff with fast and controlled access to patient rooms in emergency situations. KOSMOS also provides invaluable data for future review by recording an audit trail of patient activity and staff observations. This data can help management teams review patient care quality and highlight key trends on wards, such as patients leaving their rooms at specific times during the night or remaining in their room more than usual.
Alerting staff to life-threatening incidents, the DTM Alarmed Door System integrates with all major legacy staff attack and nurse call systems, including Nurse Call and Duress Alarm system.

They are hardwired units that are integrated into the door core and the hinge during the manufacturing process. This allows us to achieve a slim profile design, ensure the DTM is correctly installed, and to provide reliable & robust performance within mental health and behavioral health environments. As such, the DTM cannot be retrofitted.

Yes, the SWING DTM is anti-barricade by design meaning it can open in both directions.
