Industry Standards
At Kingsway Group, our products are put through extensive third party testing to ensure they are certificated and meet the stringent requirements demanded by challenging mental health environments.
Certification and testing of our products is conducted by third party experts to official standards in the relevant category to ensure our products are fit-for-purpose and the safest they can be.
Established in 1896, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is a global non-profit organization devoted to eliminating death, injury, and property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards. As a member of the NFPA, at Kingsway Group we recognize the critical importance of code compliance and strive to ensure our products have the required certifications to enable their use in the most demanding situations.
The NFPA produces standards such as NFPA 80 and NFPA 105 from which UL Standards and Engagements derive their testing standards, including UL1784, the Standard for Safety of Air Leakage Tests of Door Assemblies. Various provisions of the International Building Code (IBC) require doors to meet the requirements for a smoke and draft control door assembly tested in accordance with UL1784. As holders of UL1784 certification, we ensure our door systems and components are rigorously tested to the required standards to give building owners, specifiers, and the responsible persons confidence in the smoke compliance of their door systems with documented evidence to demonstrate this.
For assurance of performance and robustness, our products are subjected to extensive cycle, attack resistance, and fire testing and are provided with supporting documentation to ensure a successful project, including UL certification.
Our Ligature-Resistant Hardware products have been rigorously tested in line with the Door & Hardware Federation’s TS001:2013 (Enhanced Requirements & Test Methods For Anti-Ligature Hardware). This specialist test assesses a product’s ability to resist ligature attachment using various materials.
Door & Hardware Federation’s TS001:2013Our Trident Attack Resistant Glazing used across our range of high-strength Vision Panels has been independently tested for robustness and has achieved certification to EN 356 for physical attack resistance.
The strenuous testing simulates intense impacts by dropping steel balls from height directly onto the glazing and is carried out by the Interuniversity Institute for Silicates, soils and Materials Test and Research laboratory in Belgium; a member of EMRA who are recognized through its expertise in CEN, ISO and AFNOT technical committees.
At Kingsway Group, our Quality Management Systems have been assessed and approved by CQS (Certified Quality Systems) Limited to the BS EN ISO 9001:2015 for the manufacture and supply of specialist doors and interior components to ensure we provide our clients with excellent levels of service.
ISO 9001 is the internationally recognized Quality Management System (QMS) standard used to ensure systems and processes are of a consistent high quality with a reporting system to ensure any non-conformances are reported and fixed.
