With the ability to be locked back flush to the wall, the anti-ligature STOW Door System provides clinical teams with greater control over service user access to high-risk areas.
Often used in en-suite areas, the STOW system gives staff full control over how the door is used whilst helping service users maintain privacy and dignity. Featuring carefully designed anti-ligature recessed hardware and a unique top plate, STOW ensures the risk of ligature attachment is reduced to improve patient safety.

To reduce risk further, the STOW doorset can be specified with our DTM (Door Top Monitor) or SENTRY (Full Door Edge) ligature alarm systems.

Simple operation with flexible and controllable usage
The STOW doorset offers simple operation whilst maximising flexibility over how a space is used. With the ability to be either locked shut, unlocked, or folded back and secured within it’s secondary frame, STOW provides greater control over how the door is used. 1. Free Usage
Where it is deemed safe through clinical assessment, staff can unlock the door to provide service users with full access through and free use of the door, helping to maintain their privacy and dignity when using ensuite facilities.
2. Stowed
To facilitate safe access to high-risk areas without the risk of moving the door, staff can ‘stow’ and secure the door leaf into a secondary frame that sits flush with the wall. When secured in the secondary frame, STOW allows the service user to freely use the en-suite area whilst giving staff increased observation capabilities.
3. Locked
Alternatively, if clinical assessment deems free access to the en-suite facility through the door to be unsafe for the service user, the STOW door leaf can be locked shut by staff.
Ligature alarm capabilities
To reduce the ligature risks present further, STOW is fully compatible with our SENTRY Full Door Edge Alarm System. Designed through research with our NHS Trust partners to support clinical teams in improving the safety of those in their care, SENTRY is an assistive technology that alerts staff when a ligature attempt takes place against any of the door edges.
When fitted with a ligature alarm, SWING is fully compatible with our KOSMOS Smart Monitoring System, allowing clinical teams to fully monitor ligature alarms and record an audit trail of patient activity and staff observations to help management teams review patient care quality and highlight key trends on wards, such as service users leaving their rooms at specific times during the night or remaining in their room more than usual.

Yes, STOW can be fitted with a Door Top Monitor (DTM) or our SENTRY Full Door Edge Alarm System covering the door’s top, leading, and bottom edge.
The STOW doorset is unique in the sense that clinical staff can securely lock the door in either the closed or open position. Watch the video demonstration to see how the doorset is operated:
