Meet Mark McMahon, Executive Vice President for North America

Having recently welcomed our new Executive Vice President at Kingsway Group, we are pleased to be beginning a new blog series called ‘Meet the Team’. One of our core values at Kingsway Group is ensuring we have a Winning Team on hand so that we can remain at the forefront of ligature resistant and anti-barricade design to continuously advance safety in behavioral health environments. Our Winning Team helps us deliver on our two other core values, ensuring Happy Customers and Perfect Products.

Our new Meet the Team blog series provides an opportunity to shine a light on the talented individuals that make up our Winning Team, and we begin by welcoming Mark McMahon, our Executive Vice President for North America.

What attracted you to the role at Kingsway?

What attracted me to Kingsway is how our culture, the team, the products, and the technology are focused on helping others. Sadly, I have lost friends because they took their own lives and I believe our purpose is to help one another. When my friends and family ask what I do, I share Kingsway’s values and how we provide a safer setting for patients and care givers. I wanted to be part of an organization that is focused on bettering the lives of others.

What is your role, remit and what are you looking to achieve?

My role is to serve the North American team in ways that allow us to grow and scale as we expand into new markets and build new customer relationships. I am focused on executing our strategic plan. To accomplish our goal, we will have the right people in the right positions doing their best every day to help Kingsway become the go-to partner for our customers. Beyond our people, I am focused on establishing structure, processes, and technology to enable our growth.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of the job is working with the team and seeing the progress they make each day. Both personally and professionally. I have been fortunate in my life to have great coaches that were able to help me achieve more than I thought was possible. I want to be that person for the Kingsway team.

How have you found your first few months at Kingsway, what insight have you found valuable from talking with our partners?

The last few months have provided me the opportunity to learn about the business from Julian and Ben Hall, Sales to Operations, our support team members, suppliers, and customers. What is amazing to me is that everyone is focused on getting better and exceeding our employee and customer expectations.

Tell us a little bit about your background, experience and qualifications?

The majority of my working career was spent at a distributor of maintenance, repair, and operating supplies and equipment. Over my nearly 30 years I was able to work closely with manufactures of all sizes and industries. This gave me insight and experience into how leaders best position the organizations for success. The second area of focus for me was healthcare. Much of my time was focused on acute and long-term care hospitals within state and private networks. The experience helped me understand risk, CMS, JCAHO, safety, and operations within the facilities I supported. In addition, I worked as a Senior Leader within the exterior building products industry and that is where I learned all about door and window assembly.

What are your interests outside of work?

My wife, Stacey and I have been together for 26 years and have 3 boys. They are 20, 19, and 15. Many of my interests outside of work involve volunteering in my community. I enjoy baseball and have coached for the last 15 years. I also like to be outside anytime the weather allows doing all sorts of things like; walking, going to the beach, hiking, landscaping, and sometimes just sitting by the pool.
