Kingsway Group, as leaders in anti-ligature door systems, were specified as the door system supplier for the patient area doors on this 74-bed new-build mental health hospital for the NHS.
The SWITCH Anti-Barricade Door System was selected for its speed of opening in a barricade situation and the way it improves staff safety by allowing them to stand in the ‘green-zone’ when dealing with an emergency incident.
For the en-suite patient shower rooms, the STOW Door System was used – this system allows the door to fold back into a pocket in the wall and be safely locked when the patient is deemed too unwell to have control of their bathroom door.
All SWITCH and STOW doorsets were supplied with the Kingsway Door Top Ligature Monitor – this was fully co-ordinated onsite into the staff attack alarm system to provide one SMART system which provides staff an additional level of safety and ligature risk reduction.
SWITCH door systems for patient bedrooms
The SWITCH Anti-Barricade Door System was supplied as a complete pre-hung certificated doorset to each of the 74 patient bedrooms. SWITCH is the new method of anti-barricade that improves staff safety.
Door Ligature Monitors with SMART interface
The KG500 door ligature monitors were interfaced into the staff alarm system by Kingsway Group to provide a fully SMART package. Both the patient bedroom and en-suite have the ligature monitors.
STOW door system for en-suite bathrooms
Every patient en-suite bathroom was fitted with the STOW Door System which allows the door to be folded back into a pocket in the wall and locked securely in either the open or closed position.
