An anti-ligature washroom shelf, co-produced as part of Kingsway's Kalm washroom range.

The KALM Shelf has been carefully co-produced alongside Experts by Experience to support the normal routines and wellbeing of patients within mental health environments while minimising risk.

As well as offering ligature-resistance, the KALM Shelf is appropriately sized to hold personal washroom items, crucially without being too large that it serves as a trigger by reminding a patient of items they do not have access to while within inpatient care – a crucial factor highlighted during the co-production process.

To provide robust, long-lasting performance without compromising on design, the shelf is manufactured from high-strength engineering polycarbonate, benefitting from a compassionately designed appearance to help contribute to a therapeutic environment. In addition, the unit features a textured surface to ensure personal items remain securely in place, while benefitting from a naturally self-draining design.
