An anti-ligature paper towel dispenser, co-produced as part of Kingsway's Kalm washroom range for mental health environments.

The KALM Hand Towel Dispenser has been carefully co-produced alongside Experts by Experience to safely support the normal routines and wellbeing of patients within mental health environments without compromising on design. With a less intrusive, less institutional profile than existing solutions, the KALM Hand Towel Dispenser helps to create a safe yet more homely, normalised environment.

The design is highly practical too; it’s compatible with both C and V fold paper towels, easy to clean for simplified infection prevention and control (IPC), and quick to refill, while the towel capacity is appropriately sized for one user (a necessity highlighted during the co-production process), helping to create a more considerate environment for patients while also ensuring that less contents are available to cause damage to plumbing.

Manufactured from durable impact-resistant polycarbonate with a stainless steel internal backplate and cassette, the KALM Hand Towel Dispenser delivers long term strength and reliability whilst offering a warmer, more homely aesthetic compared to traditional sheet metal alternatives. While the rounded geometry, concealed fixings, and robust internal construction reduce ligature opportunities to help keep service users safe, free from overtly institutional detailing.
