As experts in anti-ligature yet compassionate design, Kingsway Group have supported over 85% of NHS Mental Health Trusts in minimising risk within their specialist care environments. Through a human-centered approach, and in collaboration with healthcare professionals and Experts by Experience, we deliver innovative solutions that protect and support vulnerable service users through challenging times, all the while helping to keep clinical staff safe within live ward environments.
While fundamentally we are a solutions manufacturer and provider, be that in the form of anti-ligature Complete Door Systems or patient wellness technology, we pride ourselves on delivering industry-leading customer service to truly position ourselves as Your Partner in Patient Safety.
We hold ourselves in account of this at every step, circling back to two key questions internally when decisions arise: ‘is this right by our customer?’ and ‘is this right by the end users of our products?’. It’s this approach that led us to the development of K-Care to help further support our partners with facilities management in their mental healthcare environments.
What is K-Care?
With growing pressures on resources and an ever increasing demand for beds within the mental health sector, we asked, how can we best support our mental healthcare partners to help alleviate some of the current difficulties faced?
We spoke with a number of our NHS Trust partners to identify some of the most pressing pain points faced currently within facilities management and to determine where we could assist. Common concerns arose around the ability to maintain operational capacity in the face of damage on wards, to the efficiency of integrating pool staff into the workforce. However, lack of a one-size-fits-all answer was apparent given the uniqueness of one mental healthcare facility to the next.
With a breadth of challenges identified, we set about developing a range of new services to provide enhanced support within mental healthcare environments via a tailored approach. These new services would form K-Care as we now know it, allowing NHS Trusts and private providers to select the level of support that’s right for their unique care environments, with each support-based component of K-Care developed to meet the following key aims:
Maximise operational capacity and room uptime with industry-leading response times to product damage
Maximise staff preparedness in operating anti-ligature solutions and simplify pool-staff integration
Ensure ongoing anti-ligature and fire compliance with proactive checks and reports
What is included in K-Care?
K-Care offers industry-leading support for challenging environments made available across three tailored support packages, allowing your mental healthcare facility to choose the level of support that’s right for your unique environment:
K-Comply: the foundation support package
K-Comply forms the foundation support package for K-Care, including cover for functional damage with remedial repairs and replacement parts for Kingsway doorsets that aren’t damaged beyond repair. Bi-annual inspections help to ensure ongoing anti-ligature and fire compliance, including a 22-point compliance inspection in line with the BM Trada Q-Mark Maintenance Scheme. Face-to-face staff training and 24/7 access to online training resources via the Kingsway e-Learning Portal help ensure your care staff are confident in the operation of your anti-ligature and anti-barricade systems.
K-Care e-Learning Portal
Online anti-ligature & anti-barricade staff training
The K-Care e-Learning Portal provides 24/7 access to online training resources, ensuring your care staff are confident in the operation of your anti-ligature and anti-barricade systems.
Management Teams can subscribe staff members to bespoke instructional courses & quizzes designed specifically for your Trust, with certificates issued to staff members for completion. Training progress can be tracked with ease and remotely, allowing Management Teams to proactively check in with members of staff where required.
K-Cover: Enhanced support with Emergency Door Replacements in just 3-Days
We understand our products are used in challenging environments, and it is critical to patient safety and ward resources that they remain operable. K-Cover includes and builds upon all elements found within the foundation support package, delivering enhanced reassurance for your facility with emergency replacement doorsets installed in just 3 Days.
With K-Cover (and K-Cover+), in the event a Kingsway Door System is damaged beyond repair, Kingsway will manufacture and install a temporary emergency replacement door within 3 Days to return the room to safe, operational use. This industry-leading service helps to ensure your clinical environments remain safe and that any potential downtime on wards caused by damage to doorsets is minimized.
K-Cover+: the ultimate support package for mental health environments
K-Cover+ includes all elements of K-Comply & K-Cover and builds upon them to provide the ultimate level of protection and support for challenging environments.
With K-Cover+, in the event a Kingsway doorset is damaged beyond repair, and once your temporary emergency replacement doorset has been installed within 3 Days to keep the room operational, production will commence on your bespoke, permanent replacement doorset.
