We’re Speaking at DiMH 2025 Conference!

We’re excited to announce we will be delivering a talk at the Design in Mental Health (DiMH) 2025 Conference and Exhibition! Alongside Gilling Dod and Britplas, we’ll be exploring the vital role of trauma-informed design in shaping spaces that truly support service user wellbeing and help contribute towards better outcomes for service users and staff.

The talk will draw on learnings from our recent Co-Production Bedroom Collaboration Project, an ongoing industry collaboration aiming to inspire a new benchmark in design for mental health environments while demonstrating the power of co-production in creating spaces that best serve service users.

We’ll explore how the built environment can actively promote healing, safety, and dignity, as well as how trauma-informed principles, such as choice and empowerment, can be meaningfully integrated into the design of care environments.

About the Project: Co-Production Bedroom Collaboration

In early 2023 Gilling Dod, Kingsway Group, and Britplas embarked on a collaborative research and design concept project to determine what the ideal CAMHS bedroom could look like and to set a new benchmark in design for mental health environments.

A full-scale concept bedroom co-produced with Experts by Experience now serves as a demonstration of the project’s key learnings. Since being unveiled for the first time at DiMH 2024, the project has been visited by industry professionals from across the globe. Now, the collaborative conversation continues as we begin to explore how the project’s key learnings can benefit the wider mental healthcare space in addition to CAMHS environments, a topic which we look forward to covering during our talk at DiMH 2025.
