As a key member of the Kingsway Team, Clem Bucknall, our CAD Draughtsman, plays a crucial role in ensuring your projects advance smoothly and efficiently. We caught up with Clem to find out more about him and his role!

Hello Clem, great to have you with us today! To start off, could you tell us a bit about your role at Kingsway Group?
I’m Kingsway’s resident CAD Draughtsman, I’m responsible for producing the door elevation drawings that we provide to our clients and use in the production of our doors. I’m also in charge of producing drawings for CNC machining that needs doing to the door leaves before they arrive in our workshops and detail drawings of the doors for fire, smoke and any other testing required.
When did you first join and what was it that attracted you to Kingsway?
I joined at the beginning of March in 2023, I was interested in joining Kingsway as I have an interest in design for disability, working in design for behavioral health is very closely related to that, so it felt like a very natural step for me.
Could you tell us a bit about your background?
I graduated from the University of Sussex where I studied BSc product design for 3 years, while I was there I specialized in prototyping and model making, CAD design with Solidworks and design for disability, which was the subject of my thesis.
In your role you play a crucial part in ensuring new projects can advance with pace, working closely with the wider team to see this through. Which members of the Kingsway Team do you work most closely with on a day-to-day basis?
I work most closely with our commercial manager, Jason Patmore, who oversees the majority of the CNC work as well as any door elevations prepared for use here in the US.
In addition to Jason, I work very closely with our estimators who provide me with the quotes I use to produce door elevations for our customers, which makes up the majority of my work.
I also regularly provide our Certifications & Quality Control Manager, Toby Blamey, with any drawings he requires for testing new door systems and products.
Which regions do you cover in your role?
The majority of my work is for the UK office and US offices, however I also provide work for our team in Australia.
Central to Kingsway Group are our three core values: Perfect Products, Happy Customers, and a Winning Team. Which of these do you see tying in most closely with your role?
Happy Customers and Winning Team. Most of my work is to be provided to our customers by Kingsway Project Managers, the important visual information and detail it provides helps to advance projects smoothly. The work I do also bridges between different departments at Kingsway Group and helps to keep things running smoothly internally.
Thank you for chatting with us today, Clem. To round off, what are your main interests and pastimes outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy model making, I’ve been learning Japanese since 2020 and I’m an avid supporter of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club in England.
