{"id":4447,"date":"2025-05-07T23:47:44","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T13:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kingswaygroupglobal.com\/en-au\/?post_type=case-study&#038;p=4447"},"modified":"2026-02-18T21:00:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T10:00:34","slug":"anti-barricade-complete-door-systems-at-hmyoi-wetherby","status":"publish","type":"case-study","link":"https:\/\/kingswaygroupglobal.com\/en-au\/case-study\/anti-barricade-complete-door-systems-at-hmyoi-wetherby","title":{"rendered":"Anti-Barricade Complete Door Systems at HMYOI Wetherby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In January 2023, Kingsway Group were approached by His Majesty\u2019s Young Offender Institution (HMYOI) Wetherby due to the need to upgrade their communal door systems to cater for barricade situations and improve safety for both those in custody and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Based in West Yorkshire, HMYOI Wetherby detains around 300 young people aged 15 to 18 years old, providing a safe, decent and educational environment where those in custody are cared for and encouraged in their development by a professional staff team.<\/p>\n<p>Like all challenging environments, reducing risk is of paramount importance to ensure all young people are provided with an environment where they can feel safe and focus on rehabilitation. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders from the Institution, our Project Consultant team were able to define the key issues for users of the facility and staff before designing a door package which would suit the challenges faced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cWe\u2019ve been <strong>impressed by the quality and standard<\/strong> of the Kingsway doors, and the staff using them find them easy to operate. The door set allows us to control entry ensuring we can enter when safe to do so without interference from the other side. By keeping staff in the &#8216;Green Zone&#8217; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kingswaygroupglobal.com\/en-au\/product\/switch-anti-barricade-door-system\">SWITCH<\/a><\/span> helps greatly minimise the risk of staff injury in the event the door is opened outwards forcefully during a barricade scenario. This ensures, should there be a barricade scenario, staff can enter a room safely and quickly to deescalate the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the secure nature of the Institution, <strong>Kingsway\u2019s Installation Team were appointed<\/strong> to manage the install of the Complete Door Systems.
